What is Narrow Way Commons?
A community that forms courses, guides and media for Catholic formation — and grows in the making of them. Members work together on that content with a gentle, reviewed process that keeps quality high. For the fuller picture, read Orientation & Glossary.
Who can join Narrow Way Commons?
Anyone drawn to the community is welcome. The moment you join you are a Sojourner — the common group every member belongs to — and you grow through the Sojourner levels automatically as you complete courses. There is nothing extra to sign up for.
How do the courses work?
A course is written once, and its heart — the core teaching — is the same for everyone. What changes to suit you is the framing (stories and examples told for your walk of life) and the depth (how much you read, from a one-minute summary to the full treatment). You can also add a story of your own and suggest edits. See How the Course System Works.
What is the difference between groups and guilds?
You take part through groups. An interest group is a light community of shared interest, where taking part simply is your membership. A guild is a community of practice you grow within over time, with levels (Junior, Endorsed, Mentor, Admin), mentorship and, for some, a role in reviewing work. See The Guild System.
How does the workflow work?
Content travels a reviewed path — the editorial pipeline — through stages like Draft, Review, Approved and Published, so nothing goes live unchecked. Each stage has someone assigned to review or approve it. See Understanding the Workflow System.
What happens to my contributions?
Everything shared here is dedicated to the public domain (CC0) and given for the good of all. When you apply you accept the Contribution Agreement. Once your work leaves this site it is credited to the community, not signed with your name — your identity is kept private to this community and never travels with the content.
How do notifications work?
You set a preference for each kind of event: Immediate (told right away), Daily digest (bundled once a day), Weekly digest (bundled once a week), or None. See Notification Settings.
What is ratification in a guild?
A newer (Junior) guild member's work is confirmed by a Mentor before it counts as complete — a gentle second check that keeps quality high and helps new members learn. See The Guild System.
How do I earn points in a guild?
Through steady taking-part: completing tasks, having your work ratified, endorsing other members, and joining in. Points are tracked on the guild leaderboard.
Can I be in more than one group or guild?
Yes. You can belong to several groups and guilds at once. Each has its own dashboard and worklist.
What is AV, and what are AV levels?
This site was created by a member of AV (AV Commons). AV members also carry their own levels — in order: Sojourner, Aspirant, Disciple. These are AV’s own and are separate from this site’s guild levels (and separate from the Sojourners group here, which shares the first name but is simply the common group every member of this site belongs to). We’ll explain the AV levels properly in time.
