Formation-data consent (version 5)

I give my explicit consent for Narrow Way Commons to keep a private record of my Catholic formation, so it can help me grow in the faith.

This record covers what I am learning of the faith, the practices I take up, and the reflections I choose to write. Because it reveals my religious beliefs it is sensitive, so I consent to it being kept and used only for this purpose — to nurture my formation. It is not a grading instrument and it is not a league table: this record is never used to rank me against another member, and no ranking of any kind is made of me unless I ask for it.

Some of this is shared by the nature of the site itself. This is a faith formation community, and my progress is shared within it in the ordinary course of taking part. I understand that, and I am consenting to it.

Being ranked is a separate thing, and it is mine to choose. Each guild keeps a contributions page which puts in order the work its members have contributed — tasks completed, work of theirs that was ratified, endorsements given and received. It lists only the members who have switched it on for themselves, from an option on their own dashboard. If I switch it on, my name, my guild role and my contribution score are shown there in order alongside the others who chose the same; if I do not, I am not shown and not counted, and nothing about my standing changes either way. It puts work I have contributed in order. It never puts in order what I am learning, the practices I take up, or the reflections I write. I can switch it off whenever I wish and I come off at once.

The practices I take up and the reflections I write are different. They are private to me, and are shown to others — such as a mentor — only according to my own sharing preferences, which I set and can change whenever I wish. They are never used to train or run any AI system, and they never leave the community.

I can withdraw this consent at any time, as easily as I gave it. When I withdraw and erase, everything goes — my record, my reflections, and the levels and seals I earned.
